Job descriptionJob Title: Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist Long-Term Locum Tenens (Inpatient & School-Based)Location: Peridot, ArizonaDuration: August 2025 May 2026 (with potential for June Summer School extension)Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch & 30-minute administrative time)Setting: San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation (SCAHC) & San Carlos Unified School District (SCUSD)Housing: Onsite shared housing available (no pets; must apply rent deducted from pay)Travel: GSA vehicle available; 57 mile roundtrip between facilitiesPosition Overview:San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation (SCAHC) is seeking a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for a long-term locum tenens position in Peridot, AZ, for the 20252026 academic year. This is a split assignment between the SCAHC inpatient clinic and the San Carlos Unified School District (SCUSD). The SLP will play a critical role in evaluating and treating children with communication, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed, experienced SLP who is passionate about making a difference in a rural and underserved tribal community while enjoying a collaborative and culturally rich work environment.Key Responsibilities:Clinical (SCAHC Inpatient)Evaluate and treat pediatric inpatients with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing difficultiesPerform bedside swallow evaluations; participate in interdisciplinary team roundsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plansDocument evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes in EMREducate families and staff on communication and feeding disordersMaintain equipment and therapy materialsClinic treatment time: Wednesdays 1:00 PM4:30 PM and Fridays 8:30 AM5:00 PMSchool-Based (SCUSD)Assess and treat students in Pre-K through 12th grade, including self-contained classroomsConduct speech/language screenings and develop/implement IEPsCollaborate with teachers, school psychologists, and familiesProvide direct and consultative services per student needsMaintain compliance with documentation, IEP deadlines, and state reportingSCUSD schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Wednesday mornings(Wednesday = half-day school schedule)Qualifications:Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (from ASHA-accredited program)ASHA CCC-SLP requiredActive Arizona SLP License (or eligible for AZ licensure)Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hireMinimum 2 years of recent pediatric and school-based experience requiredExperience with culturally diverse populations preferredStrong documentation and organizational skillsMust be a self-starter with excellent communication skillsWork Schedule & Calendar:Hours: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM (includes 30 min lunch & 30 min admin time)School Year: August 2025 May 2026Optional Summer School: June 2026No School in JulySchool Holidays (No Work):2025:Sept 1 Labor DayOct 14 Indigenous Peoples DayNov 8 No SchoolNov 11 Veterans DayNov 2728 ThanksgivingDec 2331 Christmas Break2026:Jan 19 MLK DayFeb 16 Presidents' DayMar 1721 Spring BreakApr 18 No SchoolMay 23 Last Day of Academic YearHousing & Transportation:Onsite shared housing may be available (must apply; rent deducted from pay)No pets allowed in housingGSA vehicle available upon request for short commutes between sites (~57 miles roundtrip)Compensation & Benefits:Competitive locums compensation (DOE)Housing supportTravel stipendMalpractice insurance providedSupportive onboarding and local mentorship availableAbout the Area:Peridot, AZ, is located on the beautiful San Carlos Apache Reservation and offers stunning desert landscapes, a close-knit community, and rich Native American culture.
