Director of IT Architecture
REMOTE
Salary Range: $171,000–$190,000 per year
Position Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Director of IT Technology, we are seeking a polished and highly technical Director of IT Architecture to lead the enterprise architecture strategy for a growing healthcare organization. This role oversees Network, Cloud, and Systems Architecture, ensuring technology solutions align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and emerging healthcare technologies. You will partner closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders to drive innovation, interoperability, security, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Architecture Roadmap

Define and execute enterprise IT architecture strategy aligned with clinical, operational, and business goals

Lead and mentor teams across Network, Cloud, and Systems Architecture

Establish governance, standards, and best practices ensuring compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST)

Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (AI, ML, microservices)

Ensure infrastructure scalability, availability, performance, and strong ROI on architecture initiatives
Architecture & Implementation

Oversee secure, high-performance network architecture (SD-WAN, VPNs, firewalls)

Lead cloud architecture initiatives including hybrid and multi-cloud strategies (AWS-focused)

Guide systems architecture supporting enterprise and clinical platforms, including EHR/EMR (Epic)

Drive automation and common tooling (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, AWS CDK, CloudFormation)
Collaboration, Risk & Performance

Serve as liaison between IT leadership and architecture teams

Partner with Security to enforce cybersecurity frameworks and protect patient data

Establish KPIs, manage risk, optimize IT spend, and ensure system reliability and scalability
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Healthcare Informatics, or related field

10+ years of progressive IT architecture experience, including 5+ years in leadership

Strong experience in:

Network Architecture (SD-WAN, security protocols, healthcare data exchange)

Cloud Architecture (AWS, Well-Architected Framework, hybrid environments)
-
Observability platforms (Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus/Grafana)
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree
-
Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Security, Azure Architect, CISSP, CCNP, HITRUST, or FinOps
Key Skills

Systems architecture expertise (M365, virtualization, storage, disaster recovery)

Healthcare IT standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
