Summary:
- The Lead Pharmacist is responsible for providing direction and leadership to, pharmacists, specialists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, pharmacy interns and pharmacy residents who provide pharmaceutical care to patients in the UPHS ambulatory pharmacies. You will lead the development and maintenance of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy patient care services. Responsibilities include: In addition to the responsibilities of a staff pharmacist, the Lead Pharmacist will be responsible for Pharmacy oversight in the absence of management. Daily, you will direct staff to streamline workflows, improve quality, and maintain exceptional patient care. You will assist management with scheduling and general pharmacy operations. You will hold all staff accountable to the practice and service standards of the department and institution. You will assist with the implementation of quality improvement measures for organizational performance and customer service.The scope and complexity of the position requires you to possess a diverse and highly developed skill set including but not limited to: time-management, communication, creativity, vision, teamwork, management, leadership, clinical knowledge base/skills, mentorship, change management, scholarship and teaching. In addition, you will assume management responsibility of the pharmacy and discharge pharmacy program in the absence of the pharmacy manager. You will facilitate all activities within the pharmacy and assist/direct the other staff members to assure that prescriptions and tasks are filled in a timely fashion and that all deliveries are made
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates all the activities within the pharmacy, including: triaging phone calls, maintaining equipment, training new staff, handling requests at the drop off window or discharge/specialty area, assisting and directing other staff members to assure that prescriptions are filled and all other tasks are completed in a timely fashion and that all bedside/room/home deliveries are made as scheduled.
- Ensures all state and Federal licensing requirements are met and maintained
- Communicates appropriately with other health care staff, patients and students
- Assists in establishing policies and procedures specific to the outpatient pharmacies
- Ensures adherence to pharmacy and health system policies
- Partners with management to serve as a pharmacy resource to facilitate, access, and resolve all medication related issues
- Supervises and directs activities of technicians and staff pharmacists
- Participates in Entity and Department initiatives

Credentials:
- Pharmacist - Authorization to Administer Injectables (Required)
- Must have a current and in good standing Pennsylvania license for “Authorization to Administer Injectables” as required for the outpatient population.
- Pharmacist (Required)
- Must have an active Pharmacist license in the state of practice in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)

Equivalent Experience:
•And 3+ years A minimum 3 years high volume retail pharmacy experience with prior knowldeg of third party insurance plans.
•And Previous experience as a pharmacist in charge in a retail setting.
