Job Title: Physical Therapist (PT) – Outpatient
Location: Alpena, MI (Days, Full-Time Perm Position)
Salary: Starting at $37.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 (requires 2-year commitment)
Shift: Day hours, outpatient setting, with occasional float to acute care as needed
About the Role:
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a licensed Physical Therapist in Alpena, MI. This primarily outpatient position offers a supportive and collaborative environment focused on patient-centered care. You will evaluate, plan, implement, and oversee individualized treatment strategies to restore and improve patient function. Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments through formal and informal testing to identify skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
- Treatment Planning: Develop specific, goal-oriented treatment plans based on assessment data and patient tolerance. Collaborate with physicians to ensure plans align with medical directives.
- Treatment Implementation: Deliver evidence-based interventions, including modalities, exercises, and educational programs, to improve patient outcomes.
- Documentation & Communication: Document treatment sessions, updates to the plan of care, and patient progress accurately, adhering to regulatory and organizational standards. Co-sign verbal orders as necessary.
- Patient & Family Education: Provide instruction about diagnoses, prognosis, and treatment options. Empower patients and caregivers to participate actively in recovery and self-management.
- Supervision & Leadership: Oversee and mentor Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, and students in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Equipment & Support: Recommend adaptive/supportive devices; coordinate procurement and setup to support patient independence.
- Quality & Safety: Promote continuous process improvements, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and uphold patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Valid Michigan State Physical Therapist license.
- Experience: Previous outpatient therapy experience preferred but not mandatory; new graduates are welcome.
- Core Competencies:
- Strong assessment and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication abilities, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and electronic documentation systems.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, walking, and postural changes.
- Knowledge of OSHA, bloodborne pathogens, and TB protocols.
Physical & Work Environment:
- Medium physical demand; frequent movement, standing, and walking within the healthcare facility.
- Exposure to infectious materials, requiring proper use of PPE.
- Ability to work in stressful situations, including emergencies and traumatic cases.
- Flexibility for occasional float to acute care settings.
