The W.G. (Bill) Hefner Salisbury Department of Veterans Affairs is actively seeking a highly motivated, full-time AP/CP Board-Certified Pathologist to lead our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service as Chief.

Duties:
Serves as acting chief of the service
Participates in and attends medical center committees and teams
Participates in various facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services, such as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, as assigned by the Chief, Medicine Service
Demonstrates commitment to high-quality customer service, including achieving performance goals identified by the Medical Center
Adheres to all information security and privacy measures set by VHA and the Medical Center
Annually develops and evaluates professional and personal goals; identifies individual professional learning needs and participates in formal programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and self-directed learning activities; completes facility-wide mandatory education yearly
Supervises 10 direct reports
On service, receives new cases 1 day every two weeks
No teaching responsibilities are required, but optional opportunities are available through our academic affiliate, Wake Forest Baptist Health. Opportunities to serve on the IRB, R & DC, and IACUC are also available.
ACOS PLMS directly supervises ten (10) of the current 107 lab staff; ACOS is required to have autopsy, cytology, and surgical pathology clinical privileges.
Three (3) high-complexity labs are located in Charlotte, NC; Salisbury, NC; and Kernersville, NC.
Standard workweek is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering a balanced work-life to support your professional and personal commitments. All pathologists share call on a rotating basis (by phone).

Requirements:
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required; non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens are unavailable
Education: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine
Licensure: Unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency: Completion of an accredited residency program in a core specialty
Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology

Competitive Salary: $200,000-$400,000
Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized for highly qualified applicants
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 days paid CME absence)
