Summary:
The ISC Earn to Learn Education Coordinator provides programmatic leadership, coordination, and implementation of competency-based upskilling programs for Penn Medicine employees, with a primary focus on Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing pathways. This role promotes employee development in alignment with Penn Medicine's strategic plan and workforce priorities by preparing learners with the skills, credentials, and confidence needed for successful internal career advancement. The Education Coordinator collaborates with clinical leaders, managers, human resources, workforce development teams, and external partners to design, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve educational programs. The role applies adult learning principles, learner support strategies, and outcome-driven evaluation to ensure high-quality educational experiences that meet accreditation requirements, operational needs, and organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, coordinates, and implements competency-based educational programs using adult learning principles and multi-modal instructional methods, ensuring alignment with industry standards, accreditation requirements, and Penn Medicine policies and procedures.
- Provides direct instruction and facilitates engaging learning experiences; assesses learner progress through competency validation, skills assessments, and academic performance measures; and adapts instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
- Coordinates program logistics and resources, including schedules, classrooms, labs, simulation environments, instructional materials, and onboarding activities, balancing learner participation with operational requirements.
- Supports learner success and career readiness by coaching participants on professional behaviors, supporting successful program completion, and fostering confidence for internal career advancement.
- Evaluates program effectiveness using learner outcomes, completion rates, and stakeholder feedback, and implements continuous improvements to curricula and instructional methods.
- Maintains accurate documentation of learner progress, program outcomes, and required data; prepares reports to support stakeholder decision-making, accountability, and grant or special initiative requirements.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a liaison among learners, instructors, departments, leadership, educational institutions, and accrediting bodies to support program goals.
- Demonstrates professional leadership by promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment, maintaining current knowledge of adult education and workforce development best practices, and advocating for lifelong learning and internal talent mobility.
- Continuously monitors and integrates updates in evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance and surgical care in curriculum.
Credentials:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (Required)
- CRCST, CST
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Associate of Arts or Science (Required)
- Associates degree or 5+ years equivalent experience with the assigned role and responsibilities
- Bachelor of Arts or Science
- Bachelors degree and 5+ years equivalent experience with the assigned role and responsibilities preferred
