Join the Medix team as a travel Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)! Our client, a small critical access hospital, is looking for a versatile PTA to work in a rural facility in California. This travel contract position is your chance to expand your skills and make a real difference in a close-knit community.

What You'll Do:

In this essential role, you'll work with both inpatients and outpatients, handling a wide range of cases. Your key responsibilities will include:

Providing various therapies such as modalities, therapeutic exercise, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, orthotic/prosthetic training, and taping.
Assisting with hospital and skilled nursing facility duties as needed.
Developing and implementing restorative programs for patients.

Our client is a very rural facility that primarily treats low-acuity patients with a focus on musculoskeletal issues like shoulders and wrists, so there are no highly acute cases like spinal cord injuries.

The Details:

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch. There are no weekends, on-call shifts, or holidays.
Hours: While all staff typically work 40 hours per week, a minimum of 36 hours is guaranteed.
Experience: The client prefers candidates with 3+ years of experience, but they are flexible for the right person. Being a flexible team player is a crucial quality for this role
Start Date: February 2026
Length of Assignment: 13 weeks
