Job Title: Lead Surgical Support Associate

Summary:
The role provides day‑to‑day guidance, training, onboarding support, and performance reinforcement without formal disciplinary authority, aligning with Lead‑level expectations rather than Supervisor or Manager roles. This role serves as a lead resource within the Surgical Support Services job family, assisting with staff scheduling, training and reeducation to staff. The Support Associate Lead collaborates with clinical and operational leadership to support daily workflow, provides staff education related to updates, equipment, and room setups, and ensures completion of mandatory education requirements. Additional responsibilities include inventory management, rounding, room and supply closet checks, and providing coverage for lunches and breaks as operationally required along with assisting in OR room cleans or transporting non-Tele Patients based off daily staffing shortages and operational needs.
Responsibilities:
•Communicate to the required stakeholders, on a daily and real time manner, issues regarding supplies or equipment that may impact room cleansing, patient care and safety. Stakeholders include the immediate manager, supervisor and other leaders as instructed.
•Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies and procedures
•Other duties as assigned to support the department, entity and the health system organization
•Respond to calls for issues related to EVS, Transport, Case Carts and Nursing
•Respond and assist the stakeholders with obtaining any equipment or supplies in a urgent and critical situation, including communicating with other departments if needed
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
1+ years' experience supporting Environmental Services (EVS) and/or Patient Transport functions within a perioperative setting
Minimum of one (1) year of lead experience
