This inpatient Physical Therapist position is based in Baytown, Texas, a welcoming Gulf Coast community just east of Houston. Baytowns cost of living is attractive, and its neighborhoods, schools, and recreation options make it an appealing place to live, work, and grow your career.In this role, you will provide high-quality inpatient physical therapy services to medically complex adult patients. You will work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team dedicated to restoring function, maximizing independence, and facilitating safe transitions of care. Patients may present with multi-system medical issues including cardiopulmonary conditions, neurologic involvement, complex post-surgical needs, debility from prolonged hospitalizations, and chronic comorbidities.Your typical day will include performing detailed evaluations and mobility assessments, setting functional goals in collaboration with patients and families, and delivering evidence-based interventions such as gait training, balance and coordination activities, transfer training, therapeutic exercise, and endurance conditioning. You will manage patients who may have lines, drains, oxygen, or monitoring equipment, applying sound clinical judgment to ensure safety while promoting early and progressive mobility. Close communication with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and case management is central to the role.You can expect a primarily inpatient caseload that may include medical-surgical, step-down, telemetry, and other medically complex units, with occasional involvement in higher-acuity areas based on your competency and comfort level. Patient volumes and ratios are structured to support comprehensive, individualized care and timely documentation. The schedule typically includes standard daytime hours with rotated weekend and holiday coverage to support continuity of care across the inpatient setting.The environment is team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on professional collaboration and ongoing clinical development. You will have opportunities to participate in mobility initiatives, quality improvement projects, and best-practice efforts focused on the care of medically complex patients.
