Job Summary and Qualifications
The sonographer performs breast ultrasound studies and ultrasound guided core biopsies in an outpatient setting, providing the highest level of customer service and image quality. Current hours of operation are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM; however, schedules may vary based on the needs of the department.
What Qualifications You Will Need
Graduate of an accredited RDMS or ARRT program required
ARDMS or ARRT (SON) registered or registry eligible (ARRT (R) preferred)
Current licensure from ARDMS or ARRT (S); ARDMS registered in breast or breast eligible (certification required within 12 months of hire if not board certified)
6 months of post-graduate experience with breast ultrasound preferred
BLS certification required
What You Will Do In This Role
Performs ultrasound and DEXA exams following protocols in a timely manner while ensuring a high quality of care.
Utilizes GE Logiq E9 equipment and correlates breast ultrasound findings to mammographic findings and ultrasound guided breast biopsies.
Takes patient history, retrieves necessary orders or prior images, and provides signs and symptoms to the radiologist.
Coordinates patient flow, checks daily lists for completion, and maintains professional communication with physicians and patients.
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of probes and manages the daily upkeep of departmental work areas.
Ensures compliance with quarterly targeted metrics (Kronos, HealthStream, PACS, etc.) and maintains all required licenses and certifications.
Supports quality (QI) and performance improvement (PI) plans while adhering to ICARE values.
Demonstrates knowledge of human growth, development, and assessment appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Other duties as assigned.
