This school-based travel Physical Therapist position is located in Ithaca, New York, a vibrant small city in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Your primary responsibility will be to support students access to the educational environment through individualized PT interventions based on IEPs. You will work as a key member of the special education team, helping students build functional mobility, balance, and motor skills needed for participation in school routines and activities.Core responsibilities include: Direct PT services for K-12 students in accordance with IEP goals and service mandates Evaluation of students functional mobility, posture, balance, and gross motor skills within school environments such as classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and cafeterias Development of individualized treatment plans, interventions, and school-based accommodations to promote student participation and safety Attendance and active participation in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings as the PT representative, providing professional input on student needs, goals, and progress Preparation of clear, comprehensive written reports, including evaluations, progress updates, and documentation to support IEP development and compliance Collaboration with teachers, related service providers, and families to integrate PT strategies into daily routines and classroom activities Recommendations for and training on adaptive equipment, positioning devices, mobility aids, and environmental modifications as needed Travel to multiple school buildings during the workday to provide services across the district, with scheduling support from school and special education staff Maintenance of accurate and timely documentation according to district and state regulationsA typical day may include scheduled PT sessions across several school sites, consultation with teachers about classroom modifications, participation in one or more CSE meetings, and completion of documentation and progress notes. Caseload and student needs will vary by building and age group, providing exposure to a wide spectrum of pediatric conditions and functional levels.
