ResponsibilitiesAs a Social Worker at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, you will be a valued member of our dynamic Inpatient Psychiatry and Emergency Department team, providing compassionate, patient‑centered care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducts diagnostic assessments, determines clinical interventions, facilitates crisis intervention, and provides education for patients and their families.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external support systems.
- Participates in the development and implementation of the treatment/transition plan.
- Functions as a team member within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Functions within the research, practice, and education shields at Mayo Clinic.
- Serves as a resource to allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing.
- Complies with applicable medical/legal responsibilities and organizational standards.
*This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
QualificationsA Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program is required for this position.
Licensure / Certifications
Certification as a Social Worker is required; Licensed as an Advanced Practice Social Worker APSW or licensed to practice independently at the clinical level (LCSW or LICSW) by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Additional Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of categories in mental illness, personality development, knowledge of the types of psychiatric treatment.
- Demonstrated skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy, including psychosocial diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge in adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease.
- Strong human relation skills to interact effectively with patients, patients' family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources.
- Ability to practice clinically with the intent and eligibility to progress toward Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure.
- APSW candidates must be able to complete required post-graduate clinical hours and supervision leading to LCSW attainment as a condition of employment.
