Job Summary and Qualifications
- Perform detailed fetal anatomic exams, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, biophysical profiles, nuchal translucency exams, 3D/4D imaging studies, and gynecological exams; including transabdominal and transvaginal procedures.
- Assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians with invasive procedures; including amniocentesis, fetal intrauterine transfusion, amnio-reduction, sonohysterography, and other invasive procedures as indicated.
- Prepare patients; collect relevant clinical information for completion of accurate procedures. Demonstrate effective communication with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, to include concise and organized case presentation.
- Perform patient care and daily tasks with a team approach. Interact with administrative staff, nursing staff, genetic counselors and maternal-fetal medicine specialists in a manner that promotes continuity of patient care.
- Render patient care in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner; use National Patient Safety Goals at all times.
- Participate in maintenance of AIUM accreditation.
- Flexibly rotate through all HCA Market Perinatal Centers as needed to maintain staffing levels that accommodate patient volumes.
- Participate in Perinatal Center quality assurance program by performing audits of ultrasound studies on a quarterly basis as assigned.
- Attend and participate in mandatory departmental meetings. Attend and participate in departmental conference calls as needed.
- Follow HIPAA policies. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients.
- Prepare, utilize, and monitor ultrasound equipment. Recognize significant diagnostic information in order to maintain proper functionality.
- Perform proper high-level disinfection of endovaginal probes using Trophon systems. Maintain daily quality control according to infection control requirements.
- Perform all necessary computer operations; including reporting and billing functions (Viewpoint, PACS, Meditech, and HPF).
- Maintain a clean work area by following infection control protocols, sterile techniques, and proper environment of care standards
- Maintain supplies for all examinations. Assist with annual supply inventory.
- Pursues own professional growth and development. Maintains CEU requirements for clinical role
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 1-2 years as staff sonographer with OB/Gyn experience.
PREFERRED:
- 3 years as a sonographer in an Ob/Gyn or perinatal/maternal-fetal medicine setting.
EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist program and competently cross-trained in ultrasound and/or graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Responsible for maintaining annual certification.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers – OB/GYN certification
- Current CPR certification
- Fetal Echocardiography certification
- CLEAR certified for Cervical Length –Within 1 year of employment start date
